March came in like a lion and out like a lamb for Cathryn C. Burke known as Kay who died the evening of March 31 peacefully at home amongst her family. Kay was born in Youngstown September 5, 1916, a daughter of John and Kathryn (Dulic)Yasechko. The family moved to New Middletown in 1925 and started a dairy farm. She often recounted how as a child she and her brothers milked cows at 4:00 a.m. and delivered milk in Lansingville before going to school. Upon graduating from Springfield High School, she studied at Youngstown COllege for a year. She worked at Dollar Bank as an appraiser in Struthers, Ohio and later in the war effort for the Navy in San Diego, California. It is here that she met her husband John J. Mickey Burke. They were married June 3, 1944 and celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in 2004. While raising her own family, Kay kept the books for her husband's electrical business and built the North Lima Motel with her brother Joe. Kay loved life and had many interests and above all was devoted to family and God. Her home was the gathering center for the Sunday morning breakfast club after mass. She taught religion as a young woman, was a founding member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, KC-ettes of the Poland Chapter, Cursillo and the Sierra Club, Greek Catholic Union and vatious card clubs. She was an artist, musician, gardener, craftsman, quilter and avid golfer. She also created original personalized rugs for every member of her beloved family. Kay is survived by her brother Edward T. Yasechko of New Middletown, three daughters Mary (Bill) Adams of Ellsworth, LouAnn (Tom) Dick of New Middletown, and Margaret (Ron)Carlson of Fremont, Indiana; two sons J. Gary (Michele) of DelMar, California and Joseph (Linda) of Poland, and 11 grandchildren, Erin Burke, Patrick (Robin) Burke, Joseph Jr. Burke, Kelly Burke, Ronnie Carlson and Elizabeth Carlson.
