New Middletown - Catherine M. Augustine Carney, 82, formerly of Poland, passed away at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center on Wednesday morning.

Catherine was born November 16, 1931 in Hillsville, PA, a daughter of Jack and Marianna Augustine.

She worked at Woolworth's and Maplecrest Nursing Home. She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.

Catherine married John F. Carney on Dec. 1, 1956, and he passed away on Dec. 31, 1996, after 40 years of marriage.

She leaves five children, John P. (Sue) Carney of Gahanna, Karen Namesnik of Arizona, Thomas W. (Carole) Carney of Poland, Diane Miller of Struthers and Debra (Scott) Kowal of Columbus. She also leaves nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Dominic Augustine.

Per Catherine's request, there will be no calling hours.

There will be a private graveside service at Lake Park Cemetery at a later date.
