New Springfield – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday,, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown for Carol Jean Pupin, 60, of New Springfield who passed away on Tuesday, August 6.
Carol J. Pupin was born on June 10, 1964, to Joseph and Mary Ann Pupin in Youngstown. In her lifetime, Carol brought joy to everyone she met. Born with Down syndrome and other severe challenges; she taught her family great lessons about empathy, compassion, and understanding. The happiness that Carol brought to her family, friends, and caretakers will never be forgotten.
Carol was a dedicated member of the St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Parish in New Middletown for the majority of her life where she would attend every Sunday morning mass with her parents.
She attended MASCO's workshop for many years until 2020 due to COVID-19. She enjoyed riding the bus on weekdays to her day school program which involved crafts, music, and other stimulating activities. She particularly loved whenever they would put on their Halloween dance party, so she could dress up like a cat and dance with her friends. Carol will be remembered for her love of her portable radio, Happy Meals, and always looking at pictures of her loved ones. She had an innocent and playful personality which included a healthy dose of contagious laughter.
After 2020, Carol spent her time at home caring for the family dog, Maggie, watching her favorite movies and enjoying her favorite snacks. Carol spent her last years at home under the care of her sister, Amelia Ann Hoffman, her brother-in-law, Jeffrey A. Hoffman, her niece, Amelia Jo Hoffman, and dear family friend, Laura Wilson.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Joseph F. and Mary Ann S. Pupin, and her brother, Joseph J. Pupin, Sr. Carol is survived by her sister, Amelia Ann Hoffman; her brother-in-law, Jeffrey A. Hoffman; her niece, Amelia Jo Hoffman; her aunts, Kathrine Nagraba and Stephanie Oldenburg; her uncle; Duffy Pupin; along with many other beloved extended families.
Friends may call on Friday, August 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clemente Funeral Home at 10170 Main Street in New Middletown. Carol loved the color red and her family invites all attendees to wear red in her memory.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you bring new and unused stuffed animals with the tags attached. Carol loved her collection of stuffed animals. Your donations will be donated to Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman.
