Visitation: Friends may call on Saturday at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN-Carmela Day, born the daughter of Peter and Sarah (Rippey) Christopher on May 17, 1921, left this life peacefully at the age of 91, on February 28, 2013. Carmela grew up in the Scienceville area and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an avid bingo player, liked playing cards and enjoyed cooking and baking. During World War II, she was employed as one of the so called (Rosie the Riveters), at Youngstown Steel Door. She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, John Day in 1966; and by her seven siblings, Peter, Harold, John, Jean, Louis, James and Marguerite. Those left to honor her memory are sons, John (Anne)of Pasadena, Texas, Dennis (Cynthia) of Poland and Gary (Marsha) of Weathersfield Township. She also leaves seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a cherished amount of nieces, nephews and other life acquaintances, that will surely miss her. The family thanks the staff of the east wing of the Liberty Health Care Center and Grace Hospice for her recent care and comfort.
