Obituary

Services will be held on April 1, 2017, at 11 a.m.. at St. Bartholomew Catholic  Church in Cincinnati  to honor Carmel Rose Galioto, who passed away peacefully in her sleep with family by her side on Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 2017, in Struthers, Ohio.

Friends may call at the church one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers tributes can be made to St. Bartholomew Church, c/o Narthex. (9375 Winton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231)

Carmel was an orphan during the great depression. Her father, Carmen Bruno succumbed to the flu before her birth, and her mother, Angelina Marie Anzevino, passed away when Carmel was nine. She learned through her hardships to be stronger and more resilient than any child should have to be.

She married on April 19, 1941 to  the boy next door, Anthony Galioto, a WWII veteran and foreman on the B&O Railroad.  Together they built a family with their two sons, Pasquale and Anthony, Jr., that spanned five generations.

From her two sons came ten grandchildren: Teresa (Brian) Murrell of Cincinnati, Lynn (Kenneth) Kroeger of Charlotte, North Carolina, John Galioto, George (Christy) Galioto, LeeAnne (WilliamTucker) Galioto of Cincinnati, Angela (Shane) Russo of Boardman, David (Yvonne Berlin) Galioto, James (Angela Chan) Galioto, Andrea Lambe and Pamela Galioto of Struthers.

She is survived by her son, Pasquale (Mary) Galioto of Cincinnati, her daughter-in-law, Jayne Galioto of Struthers, as well as twenty three great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband and her son Anthony.

She meant everything to so many and she was adored by anyone who knew her. To say that she was a homemaker would not do her justice; Carmel was a family maker. The true epitome of a mother, her family spread beyond the bonds of mere blood relation. Her greatest pride was in caring for others as if to protect them from the life she had endured.  Her friend's and families' lives are better, and more fulfilled by merely having known her.
