Poland – Services will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers, for Carl M. Harklerode, 58, who passed away on Monday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Main Campus in Youngstown.
Carl was born on January 8, 1958 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Gene H. and Margaret A. Karsnak Harklerode.
He was a hometown Struthers boy who lived in the area most of his life. He worked at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for 40 years and was known as a "Jack of All Trades". At one time, Carl worked as a Mahoning County Sheriff Deputy. He was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching his daughter in all of her sports activities. He loved spending time with his wife and daughter.
Carl married the former Cheryl A. D'Urso on October 20, 1990.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter Jennifer M. Harklerode of Poland, OH, who is currently attending the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of the ER Department and the Medical Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, who took care of Carl during his brief hospital stay. Also, a special thank you to Carl's extended work family at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was also known as, "Uncle Carl" and "Step Dad" to many friends.
