Ramey, PA - Very Rev. Cannon James E. Poorman, 66, Pastor of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, PA, passed away at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Memorial Medical Center Conemaugh Health System, Johnstown, Cambria County, PA. Fr. Poorman was born on September 16, 1942 in Philipsburg, PA, the son of the late James F. Poorman and Margaret J. Chihon Poorman who resides in Struthers. He was a Chaplain of Our Lady of the Valley Knights of Columbus Council #10376, Houtzdale and a member of Pope John Paul II fourth Degree Assembly #0952 of the Knights of Columbus, Clearfield. He was also an avid historian of the Byzantine Ukrainian Catholic Religion. He Held degrees in theology. Along with his mother, he is survived by a sister and brother; Karen Kihm and her husband Russell of Boardman, OH; John Poorman of Wooster, OH; four nieces, Mary and Nicole Poorman, Kari Cantanzeriti and her husband Rocco and Christina Strahlem and her husband Michael; two great nieces Jami and Jessica Smeltzer. Fr. Poorman was preceded in death by his father James F. Poorman on July 17, 2002 and a nephew James E. Poloski on May 16, 2003.
