Obituary

Bridgeport - Brent Phillip Mincher, 60, passed away May 20, 2026 at home after a lengthy illness. Brent was born November 29, 1965 in Youngstown, Ohio to Donald and Donna Hoehnle Mincher. He was a 1984 graduate of Springfield Local High School and attended Youngstown State University and then graduated from the Pittsburgh Aeronautics Institute. He then settled in Morgantown, West Virginia upon being hired by Bombardier, Inc. to work at Benedum Air Base. He later moved to Bridgeport, West Virginia so he could be much closer to his work. He worked his way up to a supervisory position, which he held for many years until his retirement in 2025. During his employment, he had several trips to Germany (Cologne and Stuttgart) which he enjoyed very much and was very impressed with how clean and beautiful it was and how very efficient his German coworkers were.

Brent loved his job and was well respected by his peers and supervisors. He was a very dedicated employee and would always offer to cover for someone when asked or if a shift was short, including on holidays. His coworkers were very much like a second family to him. In his spare time (which frequently wasn't much) he enjoyed the simple things in life, like the great outdoors, a good meal-whether going out or staying in, and his visits back to see his family in Ohio. He also enjoyed the annual Lambert family reunions in Mill Creek Park. Brent enjoyed a wide range of music from the Rat Pack to traditional country and select pieces from the 70's. He liked dogs. Baxter, an adorable beagle, was his last, but his favorite was a cinnamon collie that his sister Marge named Mickey.

When he was young, he truly enjoyed his motorcycle rides on the backroads of Pennsylvania with his good friend Doug. He also loved following the Dallas Cowboys. He was the one on a warm summer afternoon playing catch with his young 4 year old nephew (Graham) who discovered that the young boy had quite an arm, which years later would prove prophetic in school sports. As a young man he was diligent in his studies and would make sure they were completed before he turned his attention elsewhere. Brent also enjoyed lifting weights and jogging which he enjoyed with his cousin Derek. He also never ceased to catch his family off-guard with his unique sense of humor.

Brent was married for 25 years to the love of his life, Cathy Mincher, who remains. He leaves siblings Greg Mincher (Jeanine) and Marge Olson (Shawn), Nephews Graham Mincher (Lauren) and Matt Mincher and Nieces Rachel Dicke (Chet), Arielle Lester (Jeremy) and Meralee Olson and two great -nephews Everett and Wade Dicke and niece Josette Dicke. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins and their families. He was pre-deceased by his parents, and his older brother Jeff.

There will be a brief graveside service on Saturday June 6, 2026 at 11:30 am at Zion Cemetery at 10982 Rapp Road in New Middletown, Ohio, 44442. Family and friends are welcome. Anyone who wishes may make a donation to their favorite charity in remembrance of Brent.

The family would like to thank Brent's coworkers Frank and Bud for their kindness and support during this difficult time. We are also very grateful to Brent's wife Cathy and the incredible care that she gave to Brent in his last days.
