Augustina (Ustie) Mummey peacefully entered the gates of heaven on July 26, 2013 to join the chorus of God's angels for all eternity. She was a great woman of faith and, in the face of her disease, put it all into God's hands. Augustina was born on March 31, 1930 in Strabane, Pennsylvania to Frank and Julia Kuderca. When she was a young girl, the family moved to rural Enon Valley, Pennsylvania, where she spent her entire life. She graduated in 1948 from North Beaver Township High School. She married John Mummey in December of 1950 and they celebrated over 62 years together. She raised three children, Julie Ann, Janet Lynn, and Timothy Mark. She was a stay at home mom to her children until later in life when she pursued her own career. Augustina was the ultimate caregiver in her personal life and as a licensed practical nurse where she worked at the Park Vista Nursing Home. She always loved being busy, doing something useful, and unselfishly gave of herself to better the lives of others. Augustina was known to most of her family and friends as "Ustie", but her most favorite nicknames were being "Mom" and "Grammy". She so loved her family, being a mom, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. All of her babies were the lights of her life, and they were all blessed to have been in her care and nurturing. She loved watching the kids playing sports, and stayed on the sidelines with her chair and umbrella in the rain when the weather wouldn't cooperate. Her loyal support was much appreciated by all. She enjoyed her retirement years working part time for several greenhouses, babysitting her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, and making her famous Grammy's Butter Almond Toffee at the holidays. Her baking prowess was legendary, especially for her fabulous pies, and she loved making delicious goodies for her family and friends. Her circles of lifelong friends she cherished included the Red Hat Society, her classmates from high school, her nursing buddies, her wonderful neighbors, and many church friends. Augustina was a lifelong member of the Slovene National Benefit Society. She was a member of the Bible Presbyterian Church of Enon Valley and also attended the Bethel Friends Church of Poland. If you knew her, you loved her. Ustie leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love to all who were blessed to know her. Surviving family members include her husband, John of New Middletown OH, Julie & Dennis Coleman of Grand Junction CO, Janet Kirns of Lowellville, OH, Timothy & Georgene Mummey of Poland OH, Grandchildren Rebecca & Bill Baird of Poland OH, Melissa & Todd Haverdill of Broadview Heights, OH, Megan Frattaroli of Lowellville OH, Joshua Mummey of Ferndale, MI, Great-Grandchildren Ryan George, Lily Baird, Zoe Baird, Lea Haverdill, Kyla Haverdill, and Livia Haverdill. Deceased family members include her parents and brothers Joseph and Frank Kuderca.
