Services: Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church in Campbell.
Visitation: Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers, where the Tri-State Detachment Marine Corp Leagues will have a memorial service at 7 p.m.
YOUNGSTOWN - Angel L. Nieves, 62, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010. Angel was born July 4, 1947, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Francisca P. and Angel F. Nieves. He came to Youngstown as a small child,graduated from East High School in 1965 and attended the Youngstown State University for two years. He loved the military, served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp after graduation, and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Trinity Industries, formerly Syro Steel Company in Girard for 43 years until his death. Angel loved animals, especially his dog, Onyx, the outdoors, history, discussing current events and working in the yard. He regularly took 20 mile bicycling trips, was an avid reader and a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns. Most of all he was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 34 years, the former Lucy Morales, whom he married Sept. 6, 1975; two children; Michael of Youngstown and Monica (Mark) Jones of Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Torres, Emalise and Jacob Nieves and Layla Jones; two sisters, Maria (Fred) Colon of Lordstown and Irene (Bob) Hite of Youngstown; an aunt, Sophia of Las Vegas; an uncle, William of North Carolina; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Angel was preceded in death by his brother, Juan Ramon Nieves. The burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, 3900 Villa Marie Road in Lowellville.
