Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown one hour prior to the service.

YOUNGSTOWN - Alex (Al) Christides, 87, passed away on Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman. Al was born Feb. 1, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of Constantine and Mary Sarzyniak Christides and had been a lifelong area resident. He had worked four years at Idora Park and had retired from General Fireproofing after 33 years. He had also worked for Gasser Chair for 20 years. He had been a member of St. Columba in Younstown and was a charter member of Catholic War Veterans, St. Stanislaus Post #1222. His wife, Helen Holberson, whom he married June 11, 1955, died Dec. 27, 1999. Al served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He leaves two sisters, Helen and Mary of Youngstown; as well as a niece and several nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter and a sister, Elizabeth Kobus.
