Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New Middletown.

Visitation: Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m at the Clemente Funeral Home in STRUTHERS.

NEW MIDDLETOWN-Albert W. Groner, 74, of New Middletown passed away on Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown. Albert was born on September 23, 1938 in Fryburg, PA, a son of Walter and Marion Bummer Groner and came to the Mahoning Valley when he was 18 years of age. He was a welder at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, US Steel-Ohio Works and retired from GM Lordstown as a welder in 2003. He married the former Gloria J. Sapio on October 10, 1964 and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He was an avid fan of YSU basketball, football and the Cleveland Browns. Albert also enjoyed spending time and having reunions with all of his friends from Fryburg, PA. Albert leaves behind his wife Gloria; one daughter, Karen E. Groner at home; two sons James A. (Erin) Groner of Petersburg, OH and Thomas W. (Leanne) Groner of Boardman and eight grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Grace, Aaron, Tommy, Joey, Anthony and Patrick Groner. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Joanne M. Beary and one grandchild, Sam Groner.
