Columbiana – Private services were held on Friday, July 6, 2018 for Margaret Smotrila 93 who passed away at her residence Tuesday morning July 3, 2018
Margaret was born October 27, 1924 in Grottoes, VA, a daughter of Benjamin J. and Julia M. Shifflett Blackwell.
She came to this area as a child and graduated from Lowellville High School in 1942 and was an air raid warden during World War II. She worked at Sharon Steel, Petersburg Creamery and retired from Sears at Southern Park Mall as a credit department manager.
She was a former member of the Lowellville Christian Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margaret married William E. Smotrila July 29, 1946 and he died July 29, 2001.
She leaves two sons James (Valarie) of Leetonia, OH and Mark E. (Susan) of New Middletown, OH; one daughter Cathy Smotrila of Columbiana, OH; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Charles and Frank Blackwell; three sisters Maizie Sprankle, Ruth Smith, Ruby Harris and one half brother Benjamin Shifflett.
