Struthers - A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for Frank A. Galich, 70, who passed away Friday evening March 24, 2017, at home.

Frank was born November 6, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Louis J. and Mary Mayor Galich.

He was a life long area resident and a 1965 graduate of Struthers High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and was a POW.  Frank worked in security at LTV Steel and Woodside Hospital; was a part time reserve officer in Struthers, and worked at the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission Office as a service officer.

Frank was of the Catholic Faith and a member of VFW Post #3538 in Struthers, where he held various positions. He was a life time member of AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandson and family. Frank loved his friends at AMVETS, enjoyed playing scratch offs, and loved cats, especially his beloved “Queenie”.

Frank married the former Barbara J. Riebe on July 21, 1986 and she passed away December 3, 2012.

He leaves behind two step-daughters Michelle (John) Niski of Austintown, Cheryl Hedrick of Canada; one daughter Jennifer Abercrombie of Pittsburgh; one son Louis S. Galich of Hudson, OH; a grandson John T. Niski and a niece Allison Wereb.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his step-son Billy Wereb.

Friends may call two hours before the service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home where the AMVETS Post #44 will perform a Veterans Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m.
