YOUNGSTOWN- Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 11am at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for Forrest “Abe” Shipley, 71 who died Friday January 5th in his home.
Forrest was born November 29, 1946 in Confluence, PA, a son of Charles and Clara Shipley.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War receiving honorable discharge. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW, Post #3538). Forrest worked for Youngstown Steel Door, Kaleel Brothers, and the Veterans Service Commission of Mahoning County, retiring in 2014. Forrest greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Forrest is survived by his children Charlotte L. Richards (daughter, 47) and Christopher C. Shipley (son, 46), son-in-law Eugene LaFleme, and daughter-in-law Melissa Shipley, grandchildren Jessica Valsi, Jaylee Richards, and Geffery LaFleme ; brother Valice Shipley, and sisters, Thelma Sarver, Frances Williams, and Alta Mohr.
Forrest is preceded in death by his parents; brothers David Shipley, Ralph Shipley, and sister Audrey Rishel.
Calling Hours will be conducted from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 10:00 to 10:45 Wednesday, prior to the service, at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers, 700 5th Street in Struthers, OH 44471.
Entombment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
