Dorothy Burns Obituary

Poland - Private services were held Friday, July 27, 2018 for Dorothy D. Burns, 92 who passed away peacefully in her sleep at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center following a long illness.

Dorothy was born August 15, 1925 in Brownsville, PA, a daughter of Lawrence and Catherine Stultz.

She was a graduate of Redstone High School Class of 1943. Dorothy raised her five children in the Pittsburgh, PA area until 1970 when the Burns Family moved to Poland, OH. She was a homemaker, worked for the Clothes Tree, Mayo and Orvets, and then retired from General Motors. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland and many local organizations, her favorite being the “Gyro Club” of Youngstown. Dorothy enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to travel, dance, cook, garden and was always the Life of the Party. She will be sadly missed by friends and family. Dorothy adored all of her grandchildren. She never missed a single band concert, sporting event or any number of school activities. Grandma spent countless hours reading books, helping with homework and playing card games.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Michael (Theresa) Burns of Poland, Tommy Lee (Pam) Burns of North Carolina; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas J. Burns; her late husband George “Buzz” Kalinowsky; sons Fredrick Burns, John Burns and daughter Kitty Hacon.

In following Dorothy’s wishes there will not be any services.

The Burns family would like to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, all the staff at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown for taking such good care of Dorothy. She loved each and every one of her caregivers, and they loved her.
