Springfield Township – A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, May 3, at 6:30 in the evening at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown for Carol Ann Hird, 67, of Springfield Township who died Saturday morning at the Hospice House.

Carol was born April 13, 1950, in Youngstown, a daughter of Nicholas and Helen Susinka Krcelic.  She graduated from Youngstown State University and was retired from North Side Hospital as a surgical intensive RN.  She married William “Boyd” Hird on March 6, 1985.  Carol was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and the Mahoning Sportsman Association Hunting and Gun Club.  She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, Boyd, and attended and camped at the Canfield Fair each year.  She was “Mum” to many and will be terribly missed by all.

She leaves her husband, Boyd, her son Howard Thomas “TJ” (Donna Cornell) Storey of Springfield Township, two brothers Edward (Ida) Krcelic of Petersburg and Robert (Lynn) Krcelic of Springfield Township, two of her “children” that she raised as her own Leon (Samantha) Hird of New Middletown and Cierra (Mason) Hornyak of Struthers, several beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Wednesday evening two hours prior to the mass at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
